In the Words of The Valerie Fund Family
The Valerie Fund Board Chairman Dominic DiBari and wife Karen
The Valerie Fund was incredibly honored to have our founders Sue and Ed Goldstein inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame as Unsung Heroes Class of 2016. It was with great pride that various board members, doctors, supporters and staff celebrated this lifetime achievement with the Goldsteins during the induction ceremony.
Ed Bond, an original board member of The Valerie Fund and longtime friend of the Goldsteins, said it was a joy to watch Sue and Ed be inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. "I had the privilege of being there from the beginning and even the most optimistic among us could not have imagined that today there would be seven Valerie Fund Children's Centers treating more than 6,000 children annually, making it one of the largest networks in the country of outpatient healthcare facilities for children with cancer and blood disorders."
Dominic DiBari, Chairman of The Valerie Fund Board and parent of a Valerie Fund patient said, "All of us who are privileged to work with Ed and Sue are continually awed and inspired by their tireless efforts to improve the lives of others. The Valerie Fund is a shining example of the power people have to bring about positive change in the face of extraordinary circumstances. We join the New Jersey Hall of Fame in honoring the Goldsteins for their remarkable contributions, and for being there for so many children and families who truly need a hero."
Current board member Abby Goldberg expressed, "I was honored to attend the NJ Hall of Fame Awards. The Valerie Fund has helped tens of thousands of children and their families over the past 40 years, mine included, and to see our founders Ed and Sue Goldstein get inducted as Unsung Heroes gave me goose bumps. To see the entire audience give Ed and Sue the only standing ovation of the night truly warmed my heart and validated that they truly are heroes."
The Valerie Fund's own Dr. Stephen Halpern, reflected "having been one of the first physicians of the original Valerie Fund Children's Center at Overlook Hospital, in 1982, it was with great pride and joy that I was able to attend the award ceremony on Sunday and see Ed and Sue Goldstein being acknowledged for the great work they have done the last 40 years."
